# Fund Your Account

You can fund disbursements in two ways:

1. Send an ACH credit to your Chariot Deposit Account
2. Use on-demand funding when creating disbursements

{% hint style="info" %}
Funding and balance workflows can also be managed through the Chariot API. See <https://docs.givechariot.com/guides/disbursements>
{% endhint %}

***

### Option 1: Send an ACH credit

An ACH credit is initiated from your external bank and sent to your Chariot account.

1. In the Chariot dashboard, open **Overview**.
2. Find your Chariot account and routing number.
3. In your external bank, create an ACH credit using those details.
4. Return to Chariot to confirm the funds have arrived and are available in your balance.

Inbound ACH credits typically arrive in approximately one business day, depending on the originating financial institution and submission time.

### Option 2: Pull funds on-demand

To initiate funding from Chariot, first link an external financial account. On-demand funding lets Chariot debit your linked external financial account when you create a disbursement instead of requiring you to maintain the full amount as a pre-funded balance.

For example, if you create a $500 disbursement, Chariot initiates a $500 debit from your linked external account as part of the disbursement workflow.

#### Link an external financial account

1. Open **Settings** in the Chariot dashboard.
2. Select **Disbursements Funding**.
3. Follow the prompts to link and verify the external account Chariot should debit.

Contact <support@givechariot.com> to confirm on-demand funding is enabled for your account. Create disbursements normally. Chariot will initiate the required debit when your available balance is insufficient.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.givechariot.com/disbursements/for-grantmakers/fund-your-account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
