# Payment Sources

Payment sources are the platforms (i.e., DAFs, Workplace Giving Providers, Crowdfunding Programs) that send donations nonprofit organizations.

### Connected Sources

As described above, payment sources represent the platforms that send funds and data to nonprofits. When a payment source is connected to Chariot, both **funds and donation data** will arrive directly into your Chariot account.

There are two types of Connected Sources:

1. **Grantmaking Partners -** Automatically connected to your Chariot account *upon* onboarding
2. **Additional Sources -** Manually connected to your Chariot account *after* onboarding

When a connected payment source sends a gift to your organization:

* Funds are deposited into your Chariot account
* Donation data is included automatically
* Payments arrive faster and are easier to reconcile

#### Type 1: Chariot's Disbursement Partners

Chariot works with a growing network of Disbursement Partners to electronically deliver hundreds of millions of dollars to nonprofits. This subset of [#connected-sources](#connected-sources "mention") are automatically connected to your Chariot account upon onboarding. See [Disbursements FAQs](/getting-started/disbursements-faqs.md).

{% hint style="warning" %}
Received an email from [**hello@joinchariot.com**](mailto:hello@joinchariot.com)? It's likely because your organization has received a gift through one of Chariot's grantmaking disbursement partners. The email contains instructions to claim your account and access gift details.

#### Type 2: Managed Sources

Chariot also supports managed payment sources (for payments from non-disbursement partners) so you bring more of your donation activity into one place.

Connecting managed sources allows:

* More funds to be delivered electronically
* Fewer checks and manual processes
* Automatic mapping between donation data and payments

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.givechariot.com/getting-started/payment-sources.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
