Chariot Disbursements For Nonprofits

Chariot works with grantmaker partners who use Chariot Disbursements to send grants to nonprofits electronically.

When a grantmaker sends a grant through Chariot, delivery depends on whether your organization has claimed its Chariot account.

Organizations with a claimed Chariot account can receive grants electronically into their Chariot Deposit Account. Organizations without a claimed account will receive grants by mailed check if the account is not claimed in time.

Still have questions? See Disbursements FAQs

If Your Chariot Account Is Claimed

When you claim your Chariot account, eligible grantmaker partners are automatically enabled as Connected Sources within your account.

This means grants from those partners can be delivered electronically directly into your Chariot Deposit Account — often within minutes of the grant being approved and released.

When a grant arrives:

  • Funds appear in your Chariot Deposit Account

  • Donation records appear in your dashboard

  • Donation details are automatically linked to the deposit

  • Your team can view, filter, export, and reconcile the data digitally

You’ll also receive an email notification when new grants arrive and are ready to withdraw or process.

Because grants arrive electronically, organizations can process them alongside other DAF, workplace giving, and mailed gifts using the same workflows inside Chariot.

If Your Chariot Account Is Not Claimed

If your organization has not yet claimed its Chariot account, you’ll receive an email notification when a grant is initiated through a Chariot Disbursement partner.

Your organization then has up to 5 business days to claim the account and begin receiving funds electronically.

If the account is not claimed during that window, the grant will instead be mailed as a paper check to your organization’s most up-to-date physical mailing address, such as:

  • Your IRS-registered address

  • The address listed on your website

  • Another publicly available nonprofit mailing address

Our Grantmaking Partners

Chariot works with a growing network of Disbursement Partners to electronically deliver hundreds of millions of dollars to nonprofits. This subset of For Nonprofits are automatically connected to your Chariot account upon onboarding.
