# Ownership Transfer

Chariot allows you to transfer ownership of your organization’s account directly from your dashboard. This is useful when there’s a leadership change or if the current Owner needs to delegate control to another team member.

### 🔐 Who Can Transfer Ownership?

Only the **current Owner** of the Chariot account can initiate an ownership transfer.

### 🧭 How to Transfer Ownership

1. Log into your Chariot dashboard
2. Navigate to the **Team** tab
3. Select your own user profile
4. Click **“Transfer Ownership”**

You can transfer ownership to:

* An **existing Admin** on the account
* A **new user** who has not yet joined the account

### 📬 What Happens Next?

* The invited user will receive an **email notification** prompting them to accept the ownership transfer.
* They’ll be asked to complete an **abbreviated compliance verification** to confirm eligibility.
* Once the transfer is complete:
  * All users on the account will be notified
  * The previous Owner will be **automatically demoted to Admin**
  * The new Owner will have full permissions, including the ability to manage users and financial accounts
