Receiving donations after claiming your Chariot account
If you haven’t claimed your Chariot account yet, please navigate to our Getting Started guide.
🏦 DAFpay Gifts from Grantmaker Partners
If a grantmaker uses Disbursements, the gift is deposited electronically into your Chariot Deposit Account (CDA).
No action required — these donations automatically appear in your dashboard, tied to the inbound deposit, ready for data export and outbound transfer to your External Financial Accounts.
The DAFpay Network is a grantmaker that serves as an intermediary for processing DAFpay gifts. It’s used in two cases:
When DAFpay gifts are made to nonprofits that have not yet claimed their Chariot account, and
For DAFpay gifts initiated through certain fundraising platforms, including CauseMatch, The Chesed Fund, ChabadOne, and Charidy.
When the DAFpay Network is not used, funds are sent to your organization according to the provider’s standard payout method — either directly into your Chariot account or outside of Chariot, as described below.
✍️ DAFpay Gifts from Non-Partners
If a grantmaker is not using Chariot to send funds, the gift will be delivered by check or ACH outside of your Chariot account, according to the grantmaker's processing timeline. When these gifts arrive, they will often include “DAFpay” and a Tracking ID in the grant note or memo field.
Some DAF providers do not send DAFpay Tracking IDs. If the Tracking ID and DAFpay note are not available, first check for an External Grant ID. If you cannot find one, use the donor’s fund name, gift amount, and other grant details to match the inbound gift to the correct DAFpay donation line item.
❓What to do:
Check the memo or grant note on the check or ACH deposit for a Tracking ID and the term "DAFpay."
Log in to your Chariot dashboard and go to the Donations tab.
Select 'Waiting for payment'
Use the donation details to locate the corresponding donation.
Click 'Mark received"
📦 Receiving Grantmaker Partner Gifts (Not via DAFpay)
Not all Donor Advised Fund gifts originate through DAFpay — grantmaker partners send standalone grants directly to your organization.
These gifts are routed through Disbursements and land in your Chariot Deposit Account automatically.
No action required — these donations automatically appear in your dashboard, tied to the inbound deposit, ready for data export and outbound transfer to your External Financial Accounts.
