Receiving Donations

Receiving donations after claiming your Chariot account

💳 Receiving DAFpay Gifts

Once your Chariot account is claimed, funds initiated via DAFpay no longer pass through the DAFpay Network as an intermediary step. Instead, the funds are sent to your organization directly from the DAF provider (e.g., Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard).

DAFpay gifts can arrive in two ways:

🏦 DAFpay Gifts from Disbursement Partners

If the donor’s DAF sponsor uses Chariot Disbursements, the gift is deposited electronically into your Chariot Deposit Account (CDA).

No action required — these donations automatically appear in your dashboard, tied to the inbound deposit, ready for data export and outbound transfer to your External Financial Accounts.

✍️ DAFpay Gifts from Non-Disbursement Partners

If the DAF provider is not a Chariot Disbursement Partner, the gift will be delivered by check or ACH outside of your Chariot account, according to the provider's processing timeline. When these gifts arrive, they will often include “DAFpay” and a Tracking ID in the grant note or memo field.

Schwab Charitable Grant Letter (DAFpay Gift)
Fidelity Charitable CSV Report (DAFpay Gift)

What to do:

  1. Check the memo or grant note on the check or ACH deposit for a Tracking ID and the term "DAFpay."

  2. Log in to your Chariot dashboard and go to the Donations tab.

  3. Select 'Waiting for payment'

  4. Use the donation details to locate the corresponding donation.

  5. Click 'Mark received"

📦 Receiving Disbursement Partner Gifts (Not via DAFpay)

Not all Donor Advised Fund gifts originate through DAFpay — Disbursement Partners send standalone grants directly to your organization.

These gifts are routed through Chariot Disbursements and land in your Chariot Deposit Account automatically.

No action required — these donations automatically appear in your dashboard, tied to the inbound deposit, ready for data export and outbound transfer to your External Financial Accounts.
