Flow of Funds

When your organization receives a gift through DAFpay, the way the funds are delivered depends on whether you've claimed your Chariot account.

πŸ•’ No Account: DAFpay gifts initated before you claim your Chariot account

  • If your organization receives a DAFpay donation before your Chariot account is claimed, the funds are held and disbursed through the DAFpay Network (our 501(c)(3) disbursement partner).

  • You have 60 days to claim your account.

  • Once claimed, all pending donations will be released electronically within 1–2 business days.

  • If you do not claim your account within 60 days, the funds will be sent via check from the DAFpay Network.

βœ… Chariot Account: DAFpay gifts initated after you claim your Chariot account

  • DAFpay no longer sits in the flow of funds.

  • All future DAFpay donations are sent directly from the DAF provider (e.g., Fidelity, Schwab) to your organization by check, ACH or Chariot Disbursements, just like your typical DAF donations.

  • DAFpay's role at this point is solely to initiate the grant requestβ€”it does not process or disburse the funds.

  • The DAF provider will often include "DAFpay" and a Tracking ID in the grant note or memo section, so you can identify and reconcile the gift in your Chariot dashboard. See Receiving DAFpay Gifts

πŸ” Exception: The Chesed Fund

  • If your DAFpay account was activated by The Chesed Fund, then all donations will continue to be disbursed via the DAFpay Network, even after claiming your account
