Receiving DAFpay Gifts

Once you’ve received a donation through DAFpay—either by check or electronically—there are a few steps you can take to confirm, reconcile, and manage the funds in your Chariot dashboard.

See Funds Delivery Times

✅ Option 1: You Received a Check from the DAFpay Network

If your organization had not claimed its Chariot account at the time of the gift, a check may have been mailed to your IRS-registered address.

What to do:

  1. Cash the check through your usual banking process.

  2. Log in to your Chariot dashboard and go to the Donations tab.

  3. Select 'Waiting for payment'

  4. Locate the donation using the Tracking ID printed on the check or grant letter

  5. Click 'Add Payment" to add payment details to mark the gift as received.

💻 Option 2: You Received an Electronic Payment from the DAFpay Network

If your account was already claimed when the donation was processed, you may have received the funds electronically from the DAFpay Network.

What to do:

  • No action is required.

  • The inbound ACH payment will be automatically linked to its corresponding DAFpay grant record in your Chariot dashboard.

  • You can simply withdraw the funds to your linked external financial account whenever you're ready and export the associated donation data.

🏦 Option 3a: You Received a DAFpay Donation via ACH or Check directly from a DAF provider

Once your Chariot account is claimed, DAFpay donations will begin flowing directly from the donor advised fund provider via Check or ACH.

Schwab Charitable Grant Letter (DAFpay Gift)
Fidelity Charitable CSV Report (DAFpay Gift)

What to do:

  1. Check the memo or grant note on the check or ACH deposit for a Tracking ID and the term "DAFpay."

  2. Log in to your Chariot dashboard and go to the Donations tab.

  3. Select 'Waiting for payment'

  4. Use the Tracking ID to locate the matching grant.

  5. Click 'Mark received"

🏦 Option 3b: You Received a DAFpay Donation via Chariot Disbursements directly from a DAF provider

If a DAFpay donation is sent to your organization from a DAF provider that is using Chariot Disbursements, the funds will be delivered electronically to your Chariot Deposit Account.

What to do:

  1. No manual steps required to mark the dontion as received- all grant details can be viewed digitally on your Chariot dashboard and are automatically tied to the inbound deposit.

  2. You can view, filter, and export this data via CSV from your dashboard at any time to import into your CRM or accounting systems.

💡 Why don’t all DAFpay gifts land in my Chariot account?

Once your Chariot account is claimed, DAFpay stops sitting in the flow of funds. That means:

  • For most gifts, the donor’s DAF provider sends the funds directly to your organization — by ACH or check — just like a typical DAF donation.

  • Chariot’s role is to initiate the donation request, not to move the money, unless the DAF provider is using Chariot Disbursements.

These donations will still appear in your Chariot dashboard, but the funds arrive outside of your Chariot balance. You’ll just need to mark them as received after they land.
